What is Old Threshers?

If you have never heard of Old Threshers Reunion before let me first tell you a bit about it and why it is an important and fun event for my family to enjoy year after year.

Old Threshers is a Steam and Tractor show that is held in Mt Pleasant, IA every year during Labor Day weekend which has everything from steam engines, antique cars, trucks, tractors, gas engines, horses, and even steam trains and electric trollies. If none of that is your cup of tea they also have nightly concerts at the reunion at the grand stands and many of the singers are famous well known country singers to boot.

The reunion is mostly ran by Volunteers who run the trains, trollies, food tents and more. Yes these people aren’t getting paid for this but that’s ok because the memories from this event are lifelong.

Why we go?

Typically when we go to Old Threshers Reunion we camp the entire time in a tent at the campgrounds and we go because the kids simply love the events and everything that is going on there partially: Log Village, Trollies, Steam Train, Concerts, Steam Engines, and other random shows that go on there. Going to Old Threshers Reunion is almost like going back in time and learning how things were done before the new age of gasoline engines (even though they have some here).

Hopefully I can find a way to tell the story of this place in a way that interests others into going in 2022.
