Thursday Oct 15th 2020 I managed to fracture my left knee and now I am unable to walk or really do much of anything anymore.
How I did it you ask?
Well let me try to explain how this all went down but it might be a somewhat cringe story.
It all started while I was working on installing a new Chamberlain Smart Hub which is supposed to allow me to open my Chamberlain garage door opener from my phone.
Since there is a ton of garage sale crap in my garage I wasn’t able to use a ladder to reach the garage door opener so I just stood on top of the tables in the garage instead. Now during the process of setting this piece of crap hub up I had gotten up and down several times as I was having issues getting the thing to work properly.
The last time I climbed down from the table my left knee dislocated as I was climbing down which caused me to fall the rest of the way to the concrete. I managed to pop my knee back in place as this happens somewhat frequently since I’m double jointed.
Well this time the pain was quite different than normal and my knee swelled up to at least twice it’s normal size. I iced it and simply relaxed that evening and did nothing.
The next morning Friday Oct 16th 2020 the pain was no better and it was still swollen so I drove myself to the hospital to have an x-ray done. This is when they discovered that I had an avulsion fracture of the patella and told me to go to physical therapy to get a non-mobility knee brace so I can’t bend my knee anymore. They also told me to stay off my knee and not to put pressure on it or try to walk on it.
Now they didn’t tell me how long I would have to suffer in this way before this thing healed which lead to me essentially doing nothing all weekend long.
Fast forward to Monday Oct 19 I decided to call them to try to get more information about my condition and what I need to do from this point forward. They scheduled me an appointment with an Orthopedic doctor to better assist with me this issue.
I saw my Orthopedic doctor on Oct 21, 2020 and he confirmed my knee is in fact in place and I do in fact have a fracture, he further envaulted my knee by doing some of his own tests and comparing it to my right knee.
He told me to work on bending it 4-6 times a day to keep some mobility in my knee so I don’t have to have surgery to regain movement, sent me home with a prescription to help with pain and swelling and they scheduled an MRI for me on Oct 26, 2020.
I’ll have to go back the following Monday Nov 2, 2020 to go over my MRI with my orthopedic doctor.
Essentially I have to wait out for 2 more weeks before I know what I’m to do next. Maybe by then I’ll magically be walking again. Who knows at this point but I pray maybe God will give me a break.

Get well!
Sorry to read of the injury Matt. Knees and ankles are tricky due to the pressure we put those areas under constant. Good thoughts on getting healed!
Wow Matt, Get well soon!
