It has been years since I took out my four-wheeler on a proper trail riding adventure , about 5 years actually. I’ve been trying to find places to ride and friends to go riding with as I don’t like to go riding alone because if something were to happen then nobody would be around to help me.
Well my buddy Dexter messaged me on Wednesday 9/2/2020 and asked me if I wanted to go riding Saturday afternoon at this grandpa’s farm. Since I’ve been wanting to go riding for years I told him “Yes, I’m game bro”.
So I spent some time on Thursday and Friday preparing my four-wheeler to take it on some trail riding.
How I got prepared
To get my wheeler prepared I had to check over all the fluids in the engine and also wanted to fix an issue I had with my winch where the release cable knob is rubbing on the plastic bumper surrounding it.
So to fix the winch I had to remove the winch from the wheeler
I didn’t really have proper tools to shave down this plastic so I just used a grinder to do so. I know, this isn’t the proper use of a grinder but it’s all I have to get in there, maybe someday I’ll get some sand paper and sand it all smooth.
Until then I’m ok with it since this is just a trail riding machine. It doesn’t have to look pretty, it just has to function.
After I was finished I decided to quickly wash the four-wheeler to see if ther was anything else visibly wrong with it before I take it out romping in the forest.
So far I’m pretty happy with it and I think she will do fine Saturday so I’m going to load it up and take it.
The Ride
Normally I would film these trips with a GoPro but I don’t currently have a good working GoPro to take on such a trip as I need to purchase a newer model.
Anyways the ride itself went good my fourwheeler made it through everything I drove it through however my friends wheeler broke down pretty early on. I ended up having to pull him back to the farm once and then later had to pull him back up out of the creek and to the truck where we loaded them up. Dexter is working on fixing his wheeler and we will try again.
