Nudism is the practice of social & personal nudity as a natural lifestyle, focusing on body acceptance, freedom and connecting with nature. Some nudists practice nudism in private at home, while others practice nudism socially. Nudism has many core principles and philosophy associated with it.

Core Principles & Philosophy of nudism

• Body Positivity: Celebrates the human body in all its forms, viewing it as natural and worthy of respect, not shame.
• Health & Wellness: Believes that nudity offers physical and mental health benefits, fostering body image and self-acceptance.
• Freedom & Authenticity: Promotes personal freedom by removing clothing as a barrier, allowing for more honest interactions.
• Non-Sexual: Emphasizes that nudity in nudist settings is non-sexual and focuses on wholesome, non-voyeuristic appreciation. 

What does nudism mean to me?

I believe nudity in general is not inherently sexual, simply being nude is a natural form. The human body should be celebrated not be hidden behind restricting, uncomfortable clothing that doesn’t allow the skin to breathe properly. I see nudism as a way of promoting body positivity, a way of being your true natural self. Most importantly, I find being nude far more comfortable than clothing and allows me the freedom to be myself.

How does society view nudity?

Society forces us to believe that all nudity is sexual, even when one isn’t committing a sex act. Society is prudish at best when it comes to bare skin, or any form of nudity especially when private areas are exposed. Society views topless women as sexual as well but topless men are not sexual which I find very goofy and backwards thinking.

If you ask anybody who follows social norms they believe you should only be naked for two reasons: Having sex and taking a shower. I disagree with that entirely.

How did I get involved in nudism?

When I was a teenager I used to try to cover up my body to hide my “shame” from the world. I believed that I was ugly or unattractive and since I stutter that made my confidence sink even lower.

Even though I hated clothing, covering up didn’t fix anything or make me feel better about myself. I finally decided to do the entire opposite and started going nude at home in the privacy of my room at my parents house. I eventually started exploring going naked by roaming the house naked while everybody was asleep and even snuck outdoors entirely nude to feel the air on my entire body.

Once I felt the outdoor air brush against my naked body I knew that nudity was something I enjoyed. At first I didn’t know there were others like me who enjoyed being nude. I thought maybe I was an outcast, or that I was simply weird for not wanting to wear clothing.

It wasn’t until I researched Nudism that I knew I wasn’t an outcast, that there are others like me who enjoy simply living life without clothing.

After I moved out of my parents house I continued my lifestyle as a nudist. I practiced nudism in my own home with my partner at the time. Over the years I grew the desire to be naked more and in more places. I started looking for places outdoors that were private and not visited often by textiles where I would strip off my clothes just to feel the sun and breeze on my naked body.

I started sharing my nude photos online in the 90s to try to meet other nudists and find other like minded folks. A lot of folks frowned at me for sharing photos of myself entirely nude online and claimed I was just seeking attention. I persisted though and kept sharing and had many profiles where I had shared nudity. Some of these profiles are gone and have been replaced with new ones over the years.

At one point I met a few people from the Camelot Nudist Club in Iowa that has now since disbanded. I joined them at skinny dip events, house parties and more. My friend Rob joined me at the skinny dip event & we had an amazing time.

Finally in 2021 I visited my first nudist resort in Illinois called Blue Lake. This was my first experience at a nudist resort and I had an amazing time at the resort. I have been back to this resort every year since I first started going there and made some cool friends there.

Relationships

I’ve had a few long term relationships and all my girlfriends including my last one who was a nudist hates the fact that I openly share photos of myself nude online. I would say every one of my past partners has told me “There is no reason to share nudity online” or “You share nudity for attention”.

I could see how somebody would think I share photos of myself nude for attention online but that simply is not the case.

All of my relationships have ended the same way, with my partner leaving me because I choose nudism over their opinion of what nudism actually is. I accept that people have their own opinions but I don’t stop and worry about others opinions of me. The right people will accept me while the wrong people will turn me away.

Why do I share nudity?

I have many reasons why I share nudity of myself online, there is no one simple easy answer. When I am nude I simply feel whole like this is me, unfiltered, unashamed, and is simply the best version of myself. A nude photo of myself is simply just another photo of me, I don’t see my nude photos as a “nude photo”. These photos are just photos of me, in my natural form, uninhibited, not being sexual. These photos are “just me” in my normal form.

Conclusion

I don’t believe nudity is inherently sexual, nudity is natural, non-sexual state of being. I enjoy being nude for not only comfort, but because I feel my skin needs to breathe and not be restricted by clothing 24/7.

The Trip to Chicago

Went on my first trip to Chicago on 7/21 for a business trip for my full time job. My co-worker (Christi) planned everything from the ride up, to the flight home so I simply have to do nothing but show up and work.

They had sent me up here to do a few things such as:

• Install managed POE switch.
• Install Unifi Wifi Cloud Key.
• Install three Unifi AP (access points).
• Help a user switch to a new laptop.
• Attempt to setup scan to e-mail on a printer.
• Help another user with his computer woes.
• and other random tasks.

Sunday 7/21

Parked my truck in Fairfield IA and I rode up with Christi. Got to Chicago about 4 or 5pm (I forgot exactly when). Checked into our hotel at the Courtyard by Marriott in the north area of Chicago which is within walking distance to our office here.

We then went to the office, Christi went to rent a ladder & I installed the managed POE switch, Unifi Cloud key and three unifi access points in the ceiling of said office. Finished that about 8:30 and then went to Portillo’s which is right by the hotel. Afterwards, we simply went back to the hotel, I went to my room, stripped down, showered and hung out nude the rest of the evening.

Monday 7/22

Got dressed and left the hotel at 7 to take back the rented ladder to The Home Depot & then got to the office at about 7:41 or so and clocked in. The morning I worked on getting the scan to e-mail working on the printer and helped users with random requests such as fixing issues on their laptop that they had.

The afternoon was spent working on some projects remotely for our Fairfield office and other random user requests from the Chicago office.

I returned to my hotel room around 4:30 or so, stripped down entirely nude and relaxed in my birthday suit for a while.

Around 7 PM Christi & I left the hotel to go eat dinner at some pizza joint. I forgot the exact name of the place but it wasn’t that great.

Got back to my hotel and again stripped down entirely nude and just enjoyed my evening in my birthday suit.

Tuesday 7/23

Scheduled an Uber and left the hotel around 6 am to go to the O’Hare International Airport to catch my flight home on Air Choice One which was boarding at 8:25am and leaving at 8:55am. Will be riding in a Cessna Caravan 208 which is a 8 seat prop plane to Burlington IA. This will be the smallest plan I’ve ever ridden in with 747 being the biggest plane I’ve been on.

I arrived in Burlington IA at 10 am and one of my co-workers picked me up at the airport and drove me back to Fairfield, IA where my truck was parked. I went into the office and punched in close to noon and worked for a couple hours before heading home to my family.

During my trip there are a couple things I missed the most:

1. my family
2. my truck and the ability to drive myself around.

I actually admitted I was a nudist prior to 2017 when I had started posting public nude photos of myself enjoying the nudist lifestyle on my personal twitter account for the world to see. However, now I’ve decided to be even more open about this topic on my blog as well. I’m officially publicly announcing that I am a nudist & I’m not ashamed to admit it! I’m even less ashamed to share photos of myself enjoying the nudist lifestyle.

First, being a naturist isn’t about porn nor is it a perverted act, it’s also not actually about sharing nude photos of yourself online either. Though since many textiles think nudism is sexual or perverted I have shared photos to try to show that simply being nude is a natural act and doesn’t have to be sexual in nature. Naturists like myself simply enjoy life without being restricted by clothing whenever possible. Naturists are often nude doing everyday tasks such as cleaning, yard work, painting, relaxing, working or even gaming!

A little background history

I have been interested in nudism for over 20 years since I was a teenager living at my parents house. While I was living with my parents as a teenager I often would roam the house nude at night and even have explored the backyard at night entirely nude.

When I was a teenager I tried to “come out” and express my love for nudism. I posted a photo or two of myself online but low and behold my sister found it, showed my mom and made me take it down. This has never stopped me though from enjoying the lifestyle and trying to promote it over the years. Now that I live on my own I have shared countless photos on Twitter to promote the lifestyle.

Over the last several years I have started doing more normal activities while nude and staying nude for longer periods of time.

Fast forward to 2018, I’m still pretty much a “home nudist” who enjoys relaxing nude around my house.

I didn’t raise my children around the nudist lifestyle because DHS and the legal system in Iowa is strictly against nudism especially when it involves minors, furthermore my children have never seen me nude.

So, What is it like being a naturist?

To me being a naturist is simply about being free from clothing & not be restricted by clothing while you sleep, work, and play. I have done all sorts of stuff without clothing and I would be nude in my everyday life if society allowed it.

How to get into nudism?

Best way is to start slowly so try some of the following to break into nudism!

• Talk to other real nudists about the nudist lifestyle and evaluate if it’s right for you.
• Don’t get dressed right after a shower & stay nude as long as possible.
• Spend time at home in your birthday suit.
• Meet other nudist friends and try being nude around them.
• Try going to a clothing optional resort and undress as you feel more comfortable.
